Eunice Rose Deterville

Eunice Rose Deterville, 81, Luxemburg, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020. 

 

She was born in Seymour on February 13, 1939 to the late Raymond J. Sr. and Teresa L. (Treml) Dax and grew up working and playing on a small family farm near Thiry Daems. 

 

On July 4, 1959 she married Reginald Deterville at St. Joseph Church in Champion and raised five wonderful children.  S

 

he ran a dairy farm in Sugarbush until 1996, where you would find her grandchildren playing, being kids and learning from her about hard work, having fun and exploring local places. 

 

She then worked for two local grocery stores until her retirement to take care of Reginald. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2011.  Mom enjoyed bowling and softball and who was well known in the area for both.

 

  Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends at church events, local restaurants, movie Tuesday’s and Birthday Club. 

While at home, you can bet she would be watching the Hallmark channel.

 

Survivors include her five children, Mark (Rosie) Deterville, Amanda (Greg) Nimmer, Sherry Toms, Tom (Becky) Deterville, Melinda (Dean) Enderby; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray (Betty) Dax Jr.; one brother in law, Byron Bredael.

 

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and two brothers in law, Donna Bredael, Lou Ann (Joe) Sticka and Jim Deterville; her father in law and mother in law, Ervin and Dolores Deterville.

 

In keeping gatherings to a minimum, a private family funeral Mass was held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sugarbush with Rev. Carlo Villaluz officiating.

 

  Burial in St. Hubert Cemetery, Sugarbush.
