Charles Richard Overbeck

Charles Richard Overbeck passed from this life Saturday, December 5, 2020. 

     Chuck was born to Henry and Thea J Overbeck, February 5, 1944, in Sturgeon Bay, WI.  Charlie and his best friend, Dave Stafford, started the rodeo association at UW-Riverfalls. Chuck was a graduate of Texas A&M Commerce with a master’s degree in microbiology. He held a double A water license with the state of Texas. Chuck served in the United States Army and saw combat as part of the long-range infantry patrol in Vietnam. He served as a member of the National Guard and the Texas Army Reserves and retired as SFC E-7. He worked for the water department of Liberty City and was the water superintendent of Kilgore, TX for twenty years. He later worked for KBR in the Iraqi theater purifying water for our troops and drilling water wells for the country. Chuck was a member of the Church of Christ and worshipped with the Alpine congregation in Longview, TX.

     A memorial service will be held in his honor Friday, February 5, 2021. Details will be announced later.

     Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Overbeck and Thea J Peterson née Leasum; his brothers, Philip Overbeck and Michael Overbeck; and his brother-in-law, Leo Zipperer.

     Chuck is survived by his wife of fifty years, Kathy Overbeck née Alexander; daughters, Cody Browning and her spouse Jason Browning of Flint, TX and Brooke Long and spouse Todd Long of Gladewater, TX; sons, J-Charles Overbeck and his spouse Kat Overbeck of Honey Grove, TX and Casey Overbeck of Gladewater, TX. Charles is also survived by his stepmother, Betty Overbeck of Sturgeon Bay; siblings, William "Bill" Overbeck of Sturgeon Bay, Margi Zipperer of Sturgeon Bay, Elizabeth "Little Bit" LeClair of Jacksonport, and Jennifer "JJ" and her spouse, Steve Baudhuin, of Sturgeon Bay; and sister-in-law, Karin Overbeck, of Sturgeon Bay. Chuck is survived by his brother-in-law, David Alexander and spouse, LuAnn, of Canton, TX; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Proctor née Alexander and spouse, Dennis Proctor, of the Woodlands, TX and Karla Gibson née Alexander of Tyler. Papa Charlie's grandchildren are Aaron Browning, Chase Browning, Tate Long, Lylah Long, Jagger Overbeck, and Savannah Overbeck. Uncle Chuck's nieces and nephews also survive him: Linda Roop née Overbeck, Travis Overbeck, Guy Overbeck, Shannon Stafford, Steffanie Stafford, Kathy Zipperer, Greg Zipperer, Dustin Overbeck, Aaron LeClair, Nathan LeClair, Courtney Ripp née LeClair, Philip Baudhuin, Samantha Boncher née Baudhuin, Justin Wells, Hillary Egan née Proctor, Zachary Proctor, Dax Alexander.
