Joan (Schroeder) Vieau

Joan H. (Schroeder) Vieau, 81, of Green Bay, went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2020, in Green Bay, WI.  She was born in Nahma, Michigan to Chester and Juliana (Turek) Pollock on May 22, 1939.  She grew up in Sturgeon Bay where she loved swimming and ice skating.  She attended Corpus Christi School and graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School. 

After high school, Joan attended beauty school and moved to Green Bay, where she married John C. Schroder in 1959.  They adopted two children and Joan worked for many years at the Green Bay Press Gazette as a customer service representative.  Joan and John were active with the Elks Club of Green Bay and attended many fun, charitable functions over the years.  After her marriage to Orlando “Lanny” W. Vieau in 1987, Joan obtained further cosmetology licensure and established the Ashwaubenon Salon of Electrolysis.  She and Lanny enjoyed travel, especially to Florida. 

Joan resided for the last few years of her life in the care of the most professional and caring staff at Woodside Senior Communities in Green Bay.  There she was loved like family and received care with the utmost dignity and respect.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Paula (Schroeder) Tauscheck of Green Bay; grandchildren, Elizabeth Tauscheck and Jonathan Tauscheck; stepsons, Myron (Patty Harms) Vieau of Oneida,WI, Brian (Yvonne) Vieau of Flagstaff, Arizona, and step grandchildren, Simone and Christian Vieau; sisters, Barbara Sargent, Mary Lou Warner, Caroline Koenig, Ellie (Bob) Steinhaus, Margaret Laplant and sister-in-law Margaret Pollock and many beloved nieces and nephews and other family members.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orlando Vieau, her son, Thomas J. Schroeder, and brothers William and Robert. 

A public visitation will be held at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.   All visitors are required to wear face masks and respect proper social distancing.  Burial will follow at Bayside Cemetery.
