Laverne M. Haegele

Laverne M. Haegele, 87, Algoma, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020 at St. Vincent's Hospital.  She was born July 27, 1933 in the Township of Red River to Jule and Mary (Delarwelle) Ferron. 

 She married Francis (Fritz) Haegele at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma on October 17, 1953. 

 Laverne worked as a baker for many years at Wautlet's Bakery in Algoma and also was a cook for the Breakwater, Clint's, Penquin City and the Hotel for many years.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, knitting and crocheting.

Laverne is survived by her three children Jerry (Kathy) Haegele, Sandy Sheps and James (Jennifer) Haegele all of Algoma, daughter-in-law Susan Haegele, Algoma; 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren,3 brothers Roger (Patty) Ferron, Darrell (Faye) Ferron and Kelton (Carol) Ferron; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,  Francis, son Myron, sister and brother-in-law Mildred (Mose) Moreau, sister-in-law Evelyn Ferron and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard (Joyce) Haegele. 

 There will be a public viewing Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 from 5 PM until 7 PM at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma with a prayer service at 7 PM.  Visitation will continue, Tuesday, Jan. 5 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma from 9 AM until time of services at 11 AM with Rev. Joel McKenney and Rev. John Moll officiating.  Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
