Marie E. Gruendemann, 85, Algoma, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center after a lengthy illness.  She was born April 23, 1935 in Kewaunee County to Jakub and Ruth (Iwen) Blazkovec.

Marie graduated from the Algoma High School and worked at the Algoma Hospital which she loved for many years.

She married Marcus Gruendemann June 25, 1955. 

 Marie enjoyed the time she spent with her family, friends and her kitties.  She also enjoyed going to the casino and socializing with people. 

 She is survived by her four daughters Sarah (Ken) Ridderikhoff, Martha Soukup, Hannah and Leah Gruendemann; granddaughter Bethany (Chris) Werkheiser; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marcus, in-laws, son-in-law Randy Soukup, two brothers Jacob Blazkovec and Andy Blazkovec and one sister Emmy Detjen. 

 A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family wants to give a special thank you to Aurora Hospital for all the care and kindness given to Marie and her family.  A speical thank you to Dr. Matthew Hobbins.

The SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, was entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
