Dorothy A. Peterson

Dorothy Alice Peterson, 91, of Algoma passed away at Algoma Long Term Care Unit on February 4, 2021.  She was born July 12, 1929 in Wayside, WI to Ehrfried and Olga (Mack) Schwahn.   

On October 31, 1949, she married Peter O. Peterson in Rankin.  She and her husband farmed in the Town of Ahnapee for many years.  Dorothy also worked as an Avon Lady.  She and Pete enjoyed many trips traveling around the country together.  He preceded her in death on July 18, 2002.  

Dorothy was a lifetime and very active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville.   She was a beloved mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and her special friend Ray.

Survivors include five children, Sandra Bell, Dolly (Dan) Fulton, Fritz (Janet) Peterson, Peter (Joyce) Peterson and Kelly (Dan) Sampson; twenty-two grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; three brothers,  Raymond Schwahn, Edward (Gail) Schwahn, Milton Schwahn;   two sisters, Linda (Harold) Schachel and Betty (Bob) Havolovitz; and special friend Ray Bender.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Scott Peterson and a sister Caroline Lorrigan.

Private funeral services will be conducted at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville with the Rev. Christopher Jackson officiating.  Burial will be St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery, Forestville.  Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in her name.  Forbes Funeral Home of Sturgeon Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.
