Ronald W. Zettel, 84 years of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Thursday April 8, 2021 at Algoma Long Term Care.
He was born February 3, 1937 in Milwaukee, the son of the Donald and Evelyn (Bauernfeind) Zettel. With a historical Door County family legacy, Ron’s grandfather Joseph Zettel settled just north of Sturgeon Bay in 1800s and started the first orchard in Door County. Ron worked as an over-the-road semi-driver for many years. He married Elaine D. Schott on June 5, 2007 at Bjorklunden Chapel. In 2010 they moved to Sturgeon Bay at their current residence.
Ron loved horses which he raised and raced. He was a very good skater, both roller skating and ice skating. He and Elaine loved fishing, especially at Kangaroo Lake.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; four stepchildren, Keith, John, Tammy, and Lisa; three sons, Gordon, Gary, and Shaun; two sisters, Ruth, and Marion.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Judy; son, Steve; and brother, Donald William Zettel Jr.
Burial will be at Bayside Cemetery. There will be no public services at Ron’s request.
