Kirk R. Olson

Kirk Richard Olson, 50, 1755 Claybanks Road, Sturgeon Bay, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. He was born on May 26, 1970, in Sturgeon Bay, to Richard “Dick” and Judy (Spiegle) Olson.

Kirk graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1988, and attended NWTC Green Bay for auto body repair. Later he also attended Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN for 2 years.

Kirk started working at a very young age, sweeping floors at Andropolis Restaurant. From there his jobs were many and varied. He was a hard worker and he made friends wherever he worked.

Kirk’s interests were also varied. He enjoyed fishing and hanging out with friends, hunting with his dad, cooking, baking, and gardening with his mom. He was always sharing his new food creations with his family. He was also great at fixing things and became the family handyman.

He was a talented jokester. His quick wit kept friends and family alike laughing for hours. His talents also included singing, and for a time he was in a local band. His signature song was “Pretty Woman.”

Kirk was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, and wasn’t afraid to share his beliefs and faith with others. He was stubborn in his convictions and not afraid to share them.

Kirk loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be greatly missed.

Kirk is survived by a son, Isaac Haszel, Sturgeon Bay; his mother Judy Olson, Sturgeon Bay; sisters Kim Olson, Ephraim, WI; and Kendra (Kurt) Burkum, nieces Kaia, Khloe, Kira and Kleo Burkum, and nephew Kaleb Burkum all of Solon, IA; grandmother Jeanette Spiegle, Sturgeon Bay; aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad Richard “Dick” Olson, grandparents Lloyd and Marion Olson and Reuben Spiegle.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation prior to the funeral, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Sturgeon Bay with the Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank the doctors and ICU staff at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Green Bay, WI, for their kindness and care of Kirk.

Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in his name.
