Shawn R. Madden

Shawn R. Madden, 69 years of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Monday May 3, 2021 at his home.

He was born December 4, 1951 in Sturgeon Bay the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Feuerstein) Madden.  Shawn attended Sevastopol High School.  With his talent for construction and a hard work ethic, he was employed by Bay Ship, PBI,  skilled as a mason carpenter, worked 23 years with the City of Sturgeon Bay, and the City Parks Department until his retirement.

For most of Shawn’s life his physical stature and strength was what you saw first.  But his outward strength, and serious demeanor was the cover over a sensitive, funny, and very giving father, grandpa, brother, and friend.  Family was everything to Shawn.  He loved being outdoors, making wood, telling bad jokes, riding motorcycles, playing volleyball, and lending a helping hand to others.

Shawn leaves his two children, Sherry (Joseph) Kaltenbrun of Sheboygan, Shawn A. (Brenda) Madden of Brussels; six grandchildren, Nick, Kara, Nathan, Kailey Kaltenbrun,  Eden and Ember Madden; five siblings, Bill (Barb) Madden of Sturgeon Bay, Sheila (Karl) Ballestad of Oconto, Mike (Barb) Madden of Sturgeon Bay, Pat (Joanne) Madden of Sturgeon Bay, his twin brother, Steve (Teri) Madden of Egg Harbor; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister-in-law Valerie, and nephew Luke Madden.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday May 8, 2021 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Stegmann officiating and lay prayer presider and friend, Dave Gingler assisting.  Burial will follow at S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Institute.

Friends and family may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.  The service will be broadcast live on Facebook at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Safety for all attending is our concern. Covid safety protocols will be in place. Masks will be required for those in attendance.  Capacity limits will be observed.  There are large screens throughout the funeral home for separation, and public rooms have UV air purification throughout to aid protection.

“We loved our dad and it’s hard to let him go but we are comforted that he is at peace and he was loved."

In lieu of flowers or gifts please give to a charity of your choice or plant a tree.
