Barbara Ettien

Barbara Ettien, 82, Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family. Born on July 28, 1938.  She was the daughter of Carl and Frances (Peer) Kurowski, Sr. She married Laurel Ettien, Sr. on August 20, 1960 at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, Green Bay, WI, he preceded her in death on February 5, 2019.

Barb worked side by side as a cheesemaker with her husband Laurel for over 37 years.  On May 2, 1997, she retired from cheesemaking.  In 1998, she and began a new career working at McDonalds in Luxemburg for over 15 years where she truly enjoyed working and made several wonder friends.

Throughout her life, Barb enjoyed spending time with her grandson, eating breakfast with Kevin every morning, watching her sons build and race stockcar, getting teased by dad, planting flower gardens, sewing and decorating her home for all the holidays.  Mom loved to cook and collect recipes (over 1000 cookbooks) no one ever went away from her house hungry. Her favorite shows were Molly B Polka, Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless and of course the Hallmark Channel.  Most of all she loved family, she would always give you “the wave” from the kitchen window when you were leaving her yard (which will be missed the most).

She is survived by her three children, Julie (Randy) Hallet, Casco, Laurel Jr. (Jennie) Ettien, Luxemburg, Kevin (Kim Jonet) Ettien, Brussels; one grandson Joshua Hallet; three brothers; James (Sandy) Kurowski, Wally (Jolene) Kurowski and Richard (Verna) Kurowski; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Laurel Ettien Sr.; parents, Carl and Frances Kurowski, Sr; several siblings, brother and sister in-laws.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Holy Trinity Church in Casco from 9-11 am; Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am with Fr. Daniel Schuster officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Odile Cemetery, Thiry Dames.  Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home – Casco assisted the family.  Online condolence message may be shared at www.wiesnermassart.com.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Luxemburg Rescue squad, staff at St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice.
