Meredy "Kelly" Kusch

Meredy “Kelly” Kusch, 71, of Sturgeon Bay and formerly of Delavan, WI, passed away at her home May 16, 2021.  She was born July 5, 1949 in Tacoma, WA to Carmon and Elaine (Speigel) Kelley.

Kelly grew up in the Chicago area where she met and married James Kusch Sr. in 1980.  They enjoyed a wonderful marriage and were inseparable until he passed away on March 19, 2020.  She recently moved to Sturgeon Bay to be near her son because of her failing health.

For most of her life, Kelly worked in quality control in the plastic manufacturing industry.  After retiring, she took on a variety of side jobs, including babysitting, which she loved the most.

When not working, Kelly enjoyed time spent in her flower gardens and doing outdoor decorating.  She loved collecting cookie jars and receiving them as gifts. She also loved making big dinners for family and friends, especially during the holidays.  Kelly was a very caring and giving person and was always there for anyone who needed anything.

She is survived by 4 children:  James (Ashley) Kusch Jr. of Sturgeon Bay, Mark Johnston (girl friend Jennifer Donelson of Twin Lakes, WI, Tom (Laura) Gilbert of Deerfield, IL, and Laurie Colins (boy friend Tom Harter) of Adams Friendship, WI; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her granddog Maggie whom she cherished and loved to spoil.

She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Leslie Gilbert.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday May 29, 2021 at the home of her son James Kusch Jr. (307 W. Pine St. Sturgeon Bay). Friends may call at James’ house from 11:00 am until the time of service. Instead of memorials, the family kindly requests outdoor flowers or plants sent or brought to the service in her memory.  Forbes Funeral Home & Cremations is assisting the family with arrangements.
