Thomas R. Goetz

Thomas Raymond Goetz, 71, of Little Sturgeon, passed away on May 31, 2021.  He was born Feb. 16, 1950, in Sturgeon Bay, to Joseph and Lucille (Weldon) Goetz.  After graduating from Premontre High School, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps.   

 

For many years, Tom worked in Green Bay as a diesel mechanic and warehouse person at Morning Glory Dairy. He was also a co-owner and operator of Goetz Resort in Little Sturgeon and will always be remembered as a good loyal friend to many.

 

As an avid outdoorsman, Tom loved fishing and hunting, particularly big game hunting in Wisconsin, Montana, and Minnesota.  He especially looked forward to his annual month-long retreat to bear camp in Minnesota.  Tom also enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona for many years. 

 

He is survived by his son Allen Goetz, Green Bay, WI; 2 grandchildren, Cody and Leah; 2 sisters, Marlene Schrank, Manitowoc, WI and Mary Meissner-Goetz, Little Sturgeon, WI; 3 nephews, John (Connie) Goetz and their son Timothy, Richard Goetz, and Justin (Rachel) Goetz and their daughters Brenalyn and Adrianna;  2 nieces, Cassie (Shawn) Snyder and their sons Isaac and Carter, and Jamie Schrank and her children Deven, Dezirae, E.J. and Ryder. Tom is further survived by many close friends: Terry Wiensch, Gene and Sue VandenPlas, Jason Dubois, Kermit and Cleo Franda and family, Randy and Mary Piontek, Danny Hertel, Andy Mahner, Dick Gerlikowski and Don Irish, as well as many other dear friends in Goetz Court, Little Sturgeon, WI, Minnesota and Arizona.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Goetz, and nephew Marshall Meissner.

Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Visitation will continue at Corpus Christi Church on Tuesday June 8 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am when a mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by the Rev. Anthony Birdsall.  Burial with military honors will be at Stevenson Cemetery.   Masks are requested to be worn by those who have not been vaccinated.
