Elaine Estel

Elaine M. Estel, 88 of Luxemburg, died peacefully on Monday June 7, 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was born on July 13, 1932, in Pilsen to the late Jacob J. and Katherine (Meyer) Shefchik.  She was a 1950 graduate of Kewaunee High School.  On November 27, 1952, she married Benedict “Ben” Estel at St. Joseph Church in Pilsen.  He preceded her in death on April 4, 2017.  They celebrated 64 years together and raised eight children on their family farm.   

 

Elaine was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and belonged to the Christian Mother Society.  She also belonged to the Ralph Kline American Legion Auxiliary Unit 262 in Luxemburg.  Elaine, a Tupperware Consultant for forty plus years, also enjoyed traveling, playing cards, going out for breakfast, and talking on the phone with friends.  She loved to cook and bake for her 8 children, 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

 

Survivors include her eight children, Jerry (Sherrie) Estel, Dave (Lynne) Estel, all of Green Bay; Germaine (Richard) Wertel, Denmark; Darlene (Warren) DeGrand, Luxemburg; Marie (Dave) Salzsieder, Denmark; Jane Dorner, Luxemburg; Jim (fiancé, Nikki Rosenau) Estel, Green Bay; Dan (Vicki) Estel, Luxemburg; 19 grandchildren, Brian Estel (special friend, Mallory), Kari (Jon) Blazek, Catie (Jason) Heimke, Adam (Kyleen) Wertel, Ben Wertel (special friend, Dena), Chrystl (Brian) Wallace, Lee (Sara) DeGrand, Michelle (Brandon) Cole, Vicky (Nathan) VandenBranden, Stacy (Mick) Verdonck, Scott Salzsieder, Sarah (Mike) Laurent, Karen (Chad) Rosenberg, Sharon (Don) Aregoni, Roxie (Chad) Mielke, Nathan Dorner, Tonya (Adam) Kane, Amanda (special friend, Corey) Estel, Josh Estel; 20 great grandchildren; one sister in law, Mary Jo Shefchik, Luxemburg; one brother in law, Robert Estel, Green Bay; many nieces and nephews.

 

Elaine was preceded in death by one daughter in law, Annette Estel; one great granddaughter, Ruby Mielke; two brothers and one sister in law, Norbert Shefchik, Ronald (Marilyn) Shefchik; seven brothers in law and eight sisters in law, Raymond (Betty) Estel, Peter (Alice) Estel, Eleanor (Jake) Wachal, Stacy (Frank) Krines, Millie (Eben) Vandeveld, Hildegarde (Norman) Jonet, Betty (Don) Ledvina, Marcy Estel; her mother in law and father in law, Peter and Caroline Estel.

 

Friends may call 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg.  Parish prayer service 6:30 pm on Thursday with Deacon Bob Miller.  Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:15 am on Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg.  Funeral 10:30 am at the church, Friday with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating.  Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
