Donald H. Kickbusch

Donald H. Kickbusch, age 90 of Kewaunee died on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Bellin Memorial Hospital from a systemic infection surrounded by his family.  He was born on May 28. 1931 in Kewaunee to the late Clarence and Gertrude (Tegen) Kickbusch.

Don graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1949 and then attended N.W.T.C.  He served in the U. S. Navy, a veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He married Lori Paul Pribek on April 11, 1987.

He was a very active member of Holy Rosary Parish, serving as a Trustee and working on buildings and grounds for many years as well as a fundraiser for many projects, he was a past president of Kewaunee Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Fellow award, served on the board of directors of Kewaunee Saving and Loan, which merged into Colonial Savings and Loan and Security Bank, served on the Kewaunee City Council, chairman of the Public Works Committee, served on the Kewaunee County Board of Supervisors.  

Don was employed by the City of Kewaunee Street Department for thirty-five years, twenty-eight as Street Superintendent.  He also operated Kickbusch Reality from 1974 to 1994, then sold to Harbour View reality where he was employed as a salesman.  He also built many fine homes in the Kewaunee area.  

Survivors include his wife: Lori; three daughters sons-in-law: Linda and Lane Hurley, Denmark; Sally and Noel Deda, New Franken; Shari and Jim Smidel, Kewaunee; two step-daughters and sons-in-law: Rhonda and Chris Coisman, Luxemburg, Mindy and Mitch Cole, Abrams; thirteen grandchildren: Jamie and Jake Hurley; Alishia (Brian) Parma, Devon (Janna) Deda; Casey and Natalie Deda; Olivia and Sophia Smidel; Nathan, Matthew and Jacob Coisman, Eden and Mason Cole; six great-grandchildren; a brother: Willard Kickbusch, Kewaunee numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Danielle Deda, step Son Robby Pribek, a sister-in-law, Jean Kickbusch.

Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 5 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Dcn. Chuck Agnew.  Visitation continues at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. James Dillenberg which will be live-streamed at www.holyrosarykewaunee.com.  Go to “parish” and click on “watch this week's Mass”.  Burial with full Military Rites will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for the church and several civic projects which were close to Don’s heart.

The family would like to thank the staff of Kewaunee Care Center and Bellin Hospital for the wonderful care that they gave Donnie.
