Doris J. Burns, 80, Algoma, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at her home. She was born July 9, 1940 in L'Anse, MI., to Harold and Vivian (Farley) Snellenberger.
Doris married Samuel Brown in Manistique, MI in 1956 and together they had four children Dave (Linda) Brown, Ellen (Terry) Moore, James (deceased), and Sue (Dave) Nuhlicek. Her son, James preceded her in death in 1978 and Samuel in 1979.
Doris then married John (Jack) Burns in Branson, MO in 1990. She is survived by her stepchildren Jack (Carleen) Burns and Debbie (Monty) Reed. They moved to Neenah, WI for a few years, then moved to Florida where they lived for 23 years, before John (Jack) preceded her in death in 2012. Doris enjoyed her family and friends in Webster, FL. until moving back to WI in 2020.
She is further survived by brother Al (Sue) Snellenberger and sister Marsha (Kevin) Wendt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Doris was never a good speller, but she was an excellent cook. She loved baking for numerous family events and always brought awesome desserts. She enjoyed card playing (taking people's money), visiting the casino, and reading.
Doris worked in the food industry until the 80's.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM at SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma.
