Paul Vincent Nutini

Paul Vincent Nutini, 75, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

He was born on August 29, 1945 in Hancock, MI, the son of the late Paul “Pat” Joseph Nutini and Rose Amelia (Pizzi) Nutini. After graduating from Hancock High School in 1963, Paul attended Suomi College in Hancock, MI and subsequently Northern Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and teaching certificate in 1968. During his time in Michigan, he met his love and life partner, Carolyn Kay Drew. They were married on August 17, 1968 at Paul’s home parish of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hancock and relocated to Sturgeon Bay shortly thereafter when Paul began his teaching career in the Sturgeon Bay School district. He would continue to teach business, accounting, finance, and keyboarding courses in the high school for the next 34 years, impacting the lives of countless students, until his retirement in 2002. Paul was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay.

Family and friends were always a central aspect of Paul’s life. An avid Wisconsin sports fan, he cherished annual trips to Milwaukee Brewer baseball games with his dad and brothers, and also Green Bay Packer games with his sons, brothers and nephews. Paul enjoyed taking golf trips with close friends, social time at card games, and sharing stories and laughs at his regular Wednesday breakfast group with former colleagues. He played for The Mill in the Sturgeon Bay slow-pitch league until he got hurt and then continued as scorekeeper.  Paul was an avid and thorough daily reader of the morning newspaper and could opine on any current event or topic with ease, often using his quick wit and sense of humor to do so. He was a devoted husband and father. Paul coached youth sports when his sons, Joe and Dan, were growing up and also cared for Carol as they spent their retirement years together. He shared a special and close bond with his three brothers, and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them and their families.

Paul will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol, his two sons, Joe (Marie) of Madison, WI and Dan (Wendy) of Ames, IA; five grandchildren, Caleb, Abby, Miles, Josie, and Grant; his three brothers, Pete (Marj) Nutini of Oconto, WI, Jim (Sue) Nutini of Hancock, MI, and Dan (Tammy) Nutini of Hancock, MI; siblings-in-law, Jan (Dave) Lundquist of Chanhassen, MN, Jim (Mary) Drew of Lake Linden, MI, and John (Carol) Drew of Houghton, MI; and nieces and nephews.

Paul’s life will be honored with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 110 N. 5th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 with Fr. Robert Stegmann and Fr. Robert Karuhn concelebrating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Paul’s cremated remains will be laid to rest, privately, in accordance with his wishes.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make memorial contributions in Paul’s name to St. Joseph Parish in Sturgeon Bay or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC in Sturgeon Bay are assisting the Nutini family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Paul may be shared with his family through his tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
