Obituaries

Darlene S. Krauel

 Darlene S. Krauel, 73, of Carlsville, Sturgeon Bay, was called home to heaven early Sunday morning, September 12, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital following unexpected complications from surgery three weeks prior. 

     She was born February 4, 1948, in Sturgeon Bay the daughter of the late Verner and Jeanette (Pigeon) Gillick.  Darlene attended Southern Door High School.  A chance meeting of her husband Darreld led to a whirlwind romance, and they were married April 22, 1967 by Rev. Baganz at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church.   She raised her three children and worked in housekeeping for more notably the Alpine Resort for 14 years, and Harbor Village Resort where she managed the housekeeping staff.  

     Darlene was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy.  She enjoyed flower gardening around the home and crocheting in her free time.   She and Darreld were Minnesota Viking Fans since Darreld’s days in the U.S. Army.

     Surviving family are her husband, Darreld; three children, Joe Krauel, Jen Krauel, and James Krauel all of Carlsville; two grandchildren, Jeffery and Kaitlin Krauel. 

     Preceding her in death were her parents, Verner, and Jeanette Gillick; two sisters, Mary Ann Logerquist and Kathleen Beno. 

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday October 2, 2021 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Valmy with Rev. Benjamin Enstad officiating.   Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Huehns Funeral Home and at the church Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.   A devotion will be held at 7:00 p.m.  Friday at the funeral home .
