Henry F. Opicka, 88, Kewaunee, passed away on October 8, 2021.
Henry was born on July 14, 1933, to the late Henry and Mae (Sterba)
Opicka. Henry was a graduate of Casco High School. On June 11, 1966
he married Johanna (Kroening) Simonar at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
in Algoma. Together they farmed in Slovan until 1979, then he worked
for Vollrath in Kewaunee until his retirement in 1997. He was a
member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kewaunee. In his free time,
he was a member of the Happy Hoppers Dance Club where he enjoyed
Polka dancing. He loved taking care of his yard, keeping it in perfect
shape, nothing ever out of place. Most of all, he loved spending time
with his family.
Henry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Johanna; daughter, Brenda (Alan) Hirst, Kewaunee, stepdaughter Gail (Alan) Zellner, Kewaunee, stepdaughter-in-law, Pat Simonar (special friend Wayne), New Franken; step-grandchildren, April Massey, Amy Terrien, Kevin (Peggy) Zellner, Kim (Mike) Rossa; step--great grandchildren, Ben Massey, Kirsten Massey, Xavier Terrien, Jared Zellner, Justin Zellner, Brittany Kostichka, Zach Kostichka, Alison (Mark), Clayton, and Michelle; in addition there are 4 step-great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mae Opicka; stepson, Ronnie Simonar; sisters, Evelyn (Harvey) Paplham, Frances (Harlan) Burmeister; father- and mother-in-law, Ernest and Louise Kroening; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Gertie (Victor) Harmann, Cliff (Max) Kroening, Loretta (Jerome) Franda, and Orville Kroening.
Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kewaunee on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 9- 11 am. Funeral service will take place at 11 am with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The Family is requesting that everyone kindly wear masks for the visitation and the funeral. Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home – Casco is assisting the family.
