Leland M. "Pete" Uecker Jr.

Leland M. "Pete" Uecker Jr., 55, Sturgeon Bay, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 in Sheboygan Falls after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born September 26, 1966 in Algoma to Leland M. and Carol (Sorenson) Uecker Sr.

Pete graduated from the Southern Door High School in 1985.  He worked at Therma-Tron X for 27 years as a master Electrician which he received in 1998 from NWTC.

Pete would travel to many states, Canada and Ireland, setting up jobs for Therma-Tron X.  He always wanted to go back to Ireland and travel more of the country.

His pride and joy was his two nephews, Jacob and Justin.  He loved teaching them how to do and repairs things.  He'd talk with Jacob about working on cars/trucks and motor sports and fixing things around the house.  He loved talking hunting and fishing with Justin.  One of his favorite things to do when the boys were younger was taking them fishing in his boat.

On weekends when Pete was home you could find him either working on remodeling his house or doing something in his barn.  He loved to ride around on his little John Deere tractor.  His other joy was taking his nephew dog, Jordy, for a ride in the Duramax truck to get ice cream at Dairy Queen.

Pete is survived by his parents, Leland (Carol); his sister Carey Uecker; nephews Jacob Dragosh and Justin Dragosh (special friend Chloe Spitzer); sister Cheryl (Andy) Rutz; aunts and uncles Patricia Hawkey, Lloyd (Lyla) Uecker and Verda Gigstad; many loving cousins and their families.

Pete was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Kenneth (Linda) Sorenson; paternal grandparents Henry (Myrtle) Uecker; uncles and aunts John Hawkey, Lynn (Anita) Uecker, Kenneth (Marilyn) Uecker,  Wallace Gigstad and Jane Hoffman; cousin Kevin Hawkey and many other family members.

Friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, Friday, October 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM until the time of services at 7:00 PM with Tom Duerst doing the memorial service.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the doctors and staff at Door County Medical Center, Dr. Paul Maes with Aurora Health Center, the doctors and staff at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and the staff At Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls for all the care and kindness giving to Pete and his family.
