La Verne "Lovie"Lensmire

La Verne “Lovie”Lensmire, left this earth on Thursday morning, October 14, 2021. 

 

She was born June 20. 1932 to the late Norman and Christine (Schultz) Lutzke in the Town of Liberty, Manitowoc County.

Graduated from St Gregory’s Catholic School in 1946.  Graduated from Valders High School in 1950.  Married her high school love, Donald M. Lensmire on May 21, 1955, at St. Gregory Church, St. Nazianz. 

 

Worked at St. Nazianz Publishing before marriage. Lived in Ellisville for 36 years before moving to Kewaunee in 1991. Lovie attended Northeast Technical Institute and received her CNA Certificate. 

 

  She was employed at Kewaunee Health Care Center for 21 years, retiring in 1997.  Lovie loved baking and cooking meals for her family, traveling, playing cards, gardening, working in her flowers, and dancing.  Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were No. 1 in her family.  Baking for children and grandchildren was always on the list when she knew they were coming.  She was a member of St. Therese Parish [St. Joseph Site] Pilsen where she was a Lay Distributor and Offering Counter.  She also belonged to Rosary Society, American Legion Ralph Kline Auxiliary Unit 262 of Luxemburg, Marathon Sheepshead Club of Kewaunee and Red Hat Society of Algoma and Kewaunee.  

 

Her husband preceded her in death in 2018.  

 

She is survived by her six children, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

(Lynn) of Luxemburg; Pat (Debbie) of Luxemburg; her grandchildren: Eric (Melody) Lensmire of Bahrain; Matt (Melissa) Lensmire of River Falls; Bridget (Robert) Dahlke of Luxemburg; Christine (Alan) Mikeal of Manitowoc;  Brandon (Heather) Lensmire of New Franken; Abbey (Josh) Baumhardt of Denmark; Kyle (Natalie) Klarkowski of Green Bay; Lindsay Klarkowski of Green Bay; Nicole (Eric)Dietrich of Sturgeon Bay; Josh Lensmire of TX; Kayla (fiancé Kenny Bliss) Lensmire of Fond du Lac; and Zach (Autumn) Lensmire of Luxemburg;  great-grandchildren, Dylan, Aeva, Claire, Harper, Alayna, Avery, Watson, Danica, Logan, Colton, Harrison,  Hallie,  Sadie, and Zane.

She is further survived by her sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law – Bea Lutzke; LaVerne and Eugene Jerovetz; Dick and Marilyn Lensmire; Tony Vanderbloemen; Nancy Lensmire; many nieces and nephews. 

 

Preceded in death by her mother and father, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Richard and Emily; brothers, Norman Jr. “Boysie” and Gary Lutzke; sisters, Darleen Gosz and Jeanette Springstube; brother-in-law, Gerald Lensmire; sister-in-law, Carol Vanderbloemen.   Also preceded by her Grandparents. 

 

Friends may call at St. Therese Parish, St. Joseph-St. John Site in Pilsen between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. 

 

Funeral 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church with Rev. Dennis Drury officiating and Christal Wavrunek assisting.

 

 Entombment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Manitowoc.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to the Cancer Society or St. Therese Parish.
