Evelyn M. Steiner

Evelyn M. Steiner, 74, formerly of Algoma, passed away, Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021 in Waukesha.  She was born May 8, 1947 in Kewaunee to Norbert and Olga (Brandt) Vanderkinter. 

  She graduated from the Kewaunee High School in 1965. Then went on to the Door-Kewaunee Teacher's College and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

  While Evelyn attended college she also worked as a waitress at the Alaskan Motor Inn and Happy's in Kewaunee.  She also worked for Hurlbut in Green Bay as an executive secretary.

  Evelyn married Joseph Steiner on February 24, 1973.  They worked together on the home farm in the Town of Ahnapee for 42 years, becoming a certified organic farm the last 15 years. “Our six children all helped us to make the farm successful”.   She also worked part time as a cook at Bay Road Place for 10 years. 

  She is survived by her six children Anthony (Katrina) Steiner, Algoma; Christine Steiner (Todd), Vancouver, WA; Kim Steiner (Matt), Portland, OR; Mary Frances (Erik) Hull, Seattle, WA; Karen (Ben) Johnson, Waukesha; and Elizabeth Steiner, Madison; three grandchildren Anton and Abigail Steiner and Aiden Johnson; brother Jerry (Mary) Vanderkinter and brother-in-law Terry Jandrin.    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph and sister Elaine Jandrin.

Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNHERAL HOME, Algoma, Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4 PM until the time of services at 7 PM with Dan Gross officiating. There will be a private family burial.
