Harold J Lemens

Harold J. Lemens, 90, of Luxemburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Oak Creek Assisted Living in Luxemburg. He was born on October 27th 1931 to the late George and Mary (Gauthier) Lemens, graduated from Luxemburg High School, and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On May 15, 1954 Harold married Berdina Sconzert at St. Hubert Church, Sugarbush. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before Berdina passed away in 2017. Upon return to Luxemburg from his tour of duty, Harold worked for his father at the Gamble Store. Later he and his brother Leonard founded Lemens Hardware. In 1990, Harold and Berdina became the sole owners of Lemens Hardware.

Harold was a lifelong member of the Luxemburg community serving as President of the Village of Luxemburg for many years. He was  a member of St. Mary Church in Luxemburg and  the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262. Harold also served as a board member and president of the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce and was selected “Man of the Year.”  Harold enjoyed his yearly trips to Pembine to hunt white-tailed deer and  spending time in the woods cutting firewood for the winter. Later in life, he and Berdina joined  a group of friends polka dancing nearly every Sunday afternoon. He had a reputation of being quite the polka dancer!

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Lemens,  brother Leonard, sister Lucille, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louise and William Sconzert, and brothers-in-law Harold Daul and Jonas Barbiaux.
