Gertrude "Trudy" Strom

Gertrude “Trudy” Strom, 86, of Sister Bay, passed away at Scandia Village on November 16, 2021.  She was born September 16, 1935 in Chicago to Peter and Ethel (Knipple) Jensen. She married Arvid Strom in Chicago on January 30, 1954; he preceded her in death on March 31, 1997.

Trudy grew up in Evanston, IL where she met her husband.  They raised their family mostly in the Chicago area.  After tiring of life in the city, she and Arvid moved to Door County in 1974. Later in life, Trudy worked as a secretary for several businesses.

Trudy had a lifelong interest in dance, particularly ballet. She loved classical music and had a very large Teddy Bear collection.   She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  As a very health-conscious person, Trudy was an avid walker and always maintained a healthy diet.

Survivors include her three children, Peter Strom, Sturgeon Bay; Linda Crockett, Sturgeon Bay and Bill Strom, Chico, CA; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Tim, Tony, Leslie, Maggie (Scott), Jeni (Josh), Natalie, Jessica (Jen) and Andrew; ten great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Elizabeth, son-in-law, John Crockett and special friend Jerry Hurley.

Memorial services will be at 12 noon, December 4, 2021 at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.  Inurnment will be in Little Sister Cemetery.

Special thanks to Scandia Village Nursing Home staff for the wonderful care and support.
