Leona (Dufek) Wiese

In a life spanning nearly a century, Leona (Dufek) Wiese peacefully passed away at 97 years old, surrounded by family on Feb. 9, 2022.

She was born March 15th, 1924, and spent much of her life close to the land - raising a family and running a dairy farm in Brussels, WI with her late husband, Clarence.

She could always be found working in her garden or tending to her flower beds. Nature was a constant in her life that brought her great joy, one that she shared with her grandchildren. Leona was an impressive baker and particularly known for her homemade rye bread. She enjoyed competitive card games with family, such as sheepshead and canasta, along with challenging puzzles.

She will be missed by all those who knew her – her daughter, Nancy Mangin and husband George Mangin of Manitowoc, WI; her granddaughters, Jessica Mangin and husband Nicholas Schroeder, and Brittany Mangin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, her son Dennis Wiese, and her husband, Clarence Wiese, with whom she shared 51 years of happy marriage.

Leona’s family is grateful to the staff of Aurora at Home Hospice for their outstanding services, with special thanks to Tammy and Tracy.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, Feb. 14, 2022 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Kolberg (8612 County Rd. D, Forestville, 54213).  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family.
