Dori Holzinger

Dori Holzinger, 69, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 22, 2022.  She was born March 22, 1952, in Algoma to Frank and Colette (Gerhardt) Bohman.  On Nov. 17, 1978, she married David Holzinger at St. Mary’s Church in Algoma.

After graduating from Algoma High School, Dori earned an associate degree in accounting from NWTC.  For over 20 years she operated a dog grooming business out of her home.  She was great with all animals large and small.

Dori loved horses, beaches and especially spending time with family.  She enjoyed baking and cooking family favorites and when she could no longer bake for them, she would buy them thoughtful things.  A very recent home delivery brought a 20 pack of miniature toy trucks, race cars, and kids’ paints and projects just for Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  When leaving for chemo treatments, she would check the pharmacy knowing it had unique greeting cards to stockpile for others’ future events.  Her joy of the holidays started November 1st with Christmas music.  Her cards, letters, and pictures spread her cheer by arriving in mailboxes early and was often the first of the season.

She is survived by her husband, two children, Ben (Brook) Holzinger of Rosemount, MN, and Abby (Greg) Schoeller of McFarland, WI; 5 grandchildren, Tessa, Landon, Edith, Kenna, and Austin; sister, Georgia (Jim) Kneeland of DePere; and brother, Mike (Mary) Bohman of Algoma; in-laws, Allan (Mari Ellen) Holzinger of Manitowoc; Tony (Denise) Holzinger of Manitowoc; Vicki (Guido) Lenaerts of Manitowoc; Mary Kay Holzinger, Leuven, Belgium; Nia (Larry) Westover of Manitowoc; and Charmaine Holzinger of Denmark, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Jim Holzinger.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:30 am on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Robert Stegmann officiating.  Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of service.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
