Obituaries

Joanne M. Rass

Joanne Marie Rass, 84, of Namur, passed away at home on March 14, 2022, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in 1937 in the Town of Red River, to Harry and Josephine (Tassoul) Petry.  On November 12, 1958, she married Milton J. Rass at St. Odiles Catholic Church in Thirey Dames.

Joanne graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1955 where she sang in the choir and was a twirler in the marching band.  After high school, she attended Door Kewaunee Normal teachers’ college.  For a short time, she worked as a legal assistant before starting a family with Milton.  Joanne was the Town of Union Treasurer for 28 years.  She also enjoyed volunteering at St. Francis & St. Mary’s for special events.

Joanne loved her husband, children, family and friends.  She also enjoyed flower gardens, hummingbirds, baking, and traveling adventures which included bus trips with Elaine and Joe. Joanne was a very kind and gentle soul who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 63 years; supportive children, Bruce Rass, Deb (Jeff) DuChateau, Becky (Dale) Konkol; sisters, Shirley Devos, Beatrice (Jim) Scholes, Arlene Schneider, Agatha Jeanquart, and Darlene Ciha; and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Elizabeth (Bob) Braun, Norman (Darlene) Petry, Mabel (Clayton) Christianson, Mary Petry, and Norma (Marlin) Kay; in-laws, Wilfred (Grace) Rass.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, at St. Francis & St. Mary’s Parish in Brussels with Rev. Edward Looney officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Monday.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
