Sandra Lee (Paape) Hoffmann

Sandra Lee (Paape) Hoffmann lost her courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer on June 9, 2022.

She was born February 5, 1959 to Lester and Elizabeth Paape in Algoma. She attended Algoma Public schools and graduated from Algoma High School in 1977. Sandy met Thomas Scott Hoffmann in 1982 and they were married on October 5, 1985.

Sandy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. After many surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, she remained cancer-free for seven years. Then, in the summer of 2021, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She again gave it a good fight, going through chemotherapy and radiation, once again. She had a sense of humor, even in the last couple days of her life. Sandy will be sadly missed by many.

Sandy loved her time up north with Tom: snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and sitting around the bonfire. Up north in Rumley, Michigan was her happy place. They also enjoyed many Harley rides as well. Sandy loved working with her flowers in the summer and tending to her garden at their home in Sturgeon Bay. Sandy was a very selfless person; everyone else always came first. She was very kind and caring and never wanted to bother anyone. Her favorite songs were “Amour” by Andy Lorio (2015) and “I Will Remember You” by Sarah McLachlan.

Sandy was a hard worker and loved her job as front desk manager at The Landmark Resort, which she held for 16 years. She worked through the covid epidemic to keep the business going.

Sandy is survived by her loving and caring husband, Thomas Hoffmann; stepson, Peter Greischar; brothers, Lester (Germaine) Paape and Gary (Rita) Paape; sister, Maria Paape; brothers-in-law, Donn (Joy) Hoffmann, Kenneth (Sue) Hoffmann, Michael (Marsha) Hoffman, and Michael Lardinois; sister-in-law, Terri (Jim) Pavlick; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Elizabeth Paape; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Marjorie Hoffmann; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Lardinois.

Sandy’s life will be honored with a memorial service on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Mark Richardson officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Sandy’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice – the nurses, social worker, and especially, Chaplain Mark Richards - for all they have done to help in the time of need. It is very much appreciated! A big, very special thank you to Sandy and Tom’s Earth Angel, Nancy Writt – you were indispensable in helping us through this difficult journey. We can’t thank you enough for all you have done.

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Sandy may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
