Obituaries

John A. Seiler

John Alfred Seiler, 84, of Sturgeon Bay passed away on June 26, 2022 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.  He was born September 7, 1937, in Carnot to Walter and Grace (Halverson) Seiler. On April 27, 1957, he married Joan Molle in Algoma, she preceded him in death on September 15, 2020.  John served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and then in the reserves from 1961-62. 

 

John owned and operated Seiler’s Sinclair Gas station on the westside of Sturgeon Bay from 1960 to 1970.  He later went into the auto parts business operating Seiler’s Auto Parts for 20 years. After selling the auto parts store, he worked for a number of years for the County Parks Department.  

John was a long time and active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where he enjoyed attending Bible class and serving as an usher and on the church council.  John was also a member of the local AmVets organization. 

John and his wife enjoyed traveling and camping across the country (all of the 50 states) and wintering in Texas for many years.  He was a very social person who talked to everyone he met, making friends wherever he went.  John also had a great sense of humor and loved pranking friends and relatives, even during his last days while he was in the hospital.

 

Survivors include four daughters, Lori (Tom) Cofrin; Terri (Jerry) McArdle; Kerri (Dan) Mallien and Jodi (Korey) Mallien; 11 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Keitha (Mike) McDonald and Mary (Randy) Piontek; and special friend Cindy Guenther.  He was preceded in death by his wife, granddaughter Megan McArdle, sister and brother-in-law Janet (Jocko) Rader, brother James Seiler and niece Kristin Piontek.

 

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Sunday, July 3, 2022 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.  Burial will be in Schumacher Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
