Samuel Adam Schneider

Samuel Adam Schneider, 46, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, formerly of Longmont, CO, passed away at home on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

He was born on June 18, 1976, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, the son of Peter John Schneider and Gloria Adams Schneider. Growing up, Sam enjoyed drawing, trick bicycle riding, and skateboarding. He was a member of the local Boy Scout troop and the Sturgeon Bay Sail Training Foundation. Through the sailing program, he developed his love for sailboat racing. Using his drawing skills, he was able to design and later construct racing boats. Sam attended Sturgeon Bay High School. He was known for being a charismatic, fun-loving, and creative person. Sam would often escape to the art room. Those who still have their SBHS yearbooks from the early-mid 1990s will be able to attest that he was uncannily in almost every group, club, and team photo within that yearbook even though he never participated in those various groups and sports. That was Sam, the prankster.

As a teenager, his musical appreciation and style had him following the musical group, The Grateful Dead. He taught himself how to play the guitar and had an interest in electronics.

On June 21, 1998, Sam married Meredith Elizabeth Guthrie in rural Jacksonport. They were blessed with two daughters: Melody and Sierra. He and Meredith shared over 14 years together before separating.

Sam worked many jobs throughout his life. Earlier on, he was a server and eventually a cook for a restaurant in St. Simons Island, GA. He constructed home stereo systems in Boulder, CO for over twelve years. Then he worked as a bouncer in a club in Denver, CO. After that, he was a bartender in Sturgeon Bay. His last job was working as an automobile detailer in Longmont, CO.

Sam found peace in nature and loved gardening. His creativity was ever present in jewelry design and racing boat construction. Later in his life, Sam had a love and great passion for Jungian Psychology and was greatly inspired by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung’s four archetypes of consciousness: the self, the persona, the shadow, and the anima/animus. He read just about every writing of Jung and delved the deepest into his book “Mysterium Coniunctionis.” Anyone who knew Sam knew that he escaped life’s hardships and negativity by writing in his journals, he was a great writer. Sam was drawn so much to water, whether that be the ocean, lakes, or streams, and those waters will forever carry memories of him. He enjoyed long drives listening to music with his daughters and frequently traveled to his favorite and most memorable locations, this included Colorado, Door County, St. Simons Island, and Florida.

He will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Melody (fiancé, Tyler Kauffman) Schneider of Casper, WY, and Sierra Schneider of Erie, CO; former wife and mother of his daughters, Meredith Guthrie of Erie, CO; mother, Gloria Schneider of Sturgeon Bay, WI; three sisters, Katie Drummond of Eagle Mountain, UT, Sarah (Ben) Nielsen of North Salt Lake, UT, and Joyanne (Allen) Ludington, IA; nieces and nephews; uncles and aunts, Lawrence “Larry” Schneider of Lakewood, WI, Mary Terrance “Terry” Carlson of Pound, WI, Paul (Marilynn) Schneider, and Tim (Zoann) Schneider, both of Menominee, MI, Golden V. (Diane) Adams, Jr. of Lindon, UT, Steve (Marsha) Adams of Garland, UT, Janice “Jan” (Paul) Coover of Quilcene, WA, K. LeMoyne (Allison) Adams of Layton, UT, and Doyle (Shawna) Adams of St. George, UT; maternal grandmother, Loween Adams of North Ogden, UT; cousins; other relatives; and friends.

Sam was preceded in death by his father who died January 14, 1996; beloved pets, Ella and Miles Davis; paternal grandparents, Lawrence Peter Schneider and Lorrayne Bernice Jessel Schneider; maternal grandparents, Golden Virgil Adams, Sr. and Ruth Lenore (Paul) Thiessens Meacham; aunt and uncle, Tina Schneider and Charles Carlson; and other relatives.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan Street, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235 on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by a memorial service honoring Sam's life. Bob Hohneke will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sam’s family to assist with his final care and service costs.

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Sam may be shared with his family through his tribute page at
