Obituaries

Roy Richard LaViolette

Roy Richard LaViolette, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on August 1, 2022, at Anna’s House.  He was born on October 30, 1945, in Sturgeon Bay to Louis and Artyce (Starr) LaViolette.  On July 17, 1965, he married Mary Lauder in Sturgeon Bay, she preceded him in death on June 25, 2014.  Roy graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1963, and then went on to graduate from NWTC.

Roy worked for Sturgeon Bay Utilities for 35 years, and then worked at Bay Ship Building for 4 years.  He was an active member of WWOA (Wisconsin Wastewater Operators Association).  Roy was a very active member of Christ the King-Holy Nativity Episcopal Church serving as past treasurer, Junior Warden, and Senior Warden.

Survivors include two children, Paula (John II) Sullivan, Sturgeon Bay; Richard (Katherine) LaViolette, Sturgeon Bay; three grandchildren, Patrick and Paige Sullivan, and Ava LaViolette; siblings, Donna Nicholson, Doris Wolske, Faye (Willard) Kolstad, Louie (Susie) LaViolette; in-laws, Leonard Kleinschmidt, Wendy Hansen, Joann Lauder, Julie (Todd) Sternard, Robert (Shannon) Lauder, and Sophie LaViolette.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; siblings, Phyllis (Phillip) Nelson, Mildred (Lawrence) Monfils, Vivian (Wayne) Johnson, Kenneth (Jane) LaViolette, Virginia (Charlie) Meunier, Shirley Pagel, Keith LaViolette; and brothers-in-law, Mike Lauder, Dan Lauder, Daryl Wolske, Don Viste, Tom Nicholson, Ray Chase, Fred Grapendine, and Jack Pagel; sister-in-law, Jayme Kleinschmidt.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 5, 2022, at Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating.  Burial will be in Hainesville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home on Friday.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
