Randall Warren Halstead

Randall Warren Halstead, age 68, of Jacksonport, WI peacefully passed away at home on October 2, 2022 with family by his side. Randy was born on June 3, 1954 in Sturgeon Bay to F. Warren Halstead and Joyce (Birnschein) Halstead.  Randy graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1972. He was united in marriage to Marion Selvick on November 11, 1995 in New Orleans, Louisiana and enjoyed nearly 20 years of marriage prior to Marion’s death in 2015.

Randy is a fifth generation farmer, the farm has been in the family for 148 years.  Randy and Warren farmed together starting in 1977.  Randy loved working the land, planting and harvesting.  In 2015, Randy was honored as a century farm at the Wisconsin State Fair.  He hoped that he would see the farm reach its 150th year in 2024, and hopefully he will rest easy knowing that his children intend to see that hope fulfilled.

Randy served on the Sevastopol Board of Education, County Board of Supervisors, Wisconsin Towns Association, Farm Services Agency, and was first Supervisor and then Town Chairman of the Town of Jacksonport.

Randy will be dearly missed by his children Lacey (Nathan) Tomczuk of Bayside, Brock (Teresa) Halstead, of Albia, IA, step-children Stephanie (Rachel) Selvick of Lake Mills and Carl (Samantha) Selvick of Black River Falls; grandchildren Isaac, Jacob, Anna, Luke, Genevieve, Cecelia, Addison, Avery, Alexander, and step-grandchildren Oliver and Everett.

Randy is further survived by siblings Kerry (Rick) Neuville of Sturgeon Bay and Cindy (Don) Viste of Sturgeon Bay; nieces Shanna (Mike) Sobieck of Oneida, Callie (Mark) Frey of Dodgeville, Nicole (Ryan) Komers of Hales Corners and Natasha (Adam) Baker of Waunakee; grand-nieces and nephews Noah, Claire, Cole, Jack, Elinor, Ry, Violet, Donovan, Luciana and Brooks as well as other close relatives.

Randy was greatly loved and will be truly missed by all, especially his grandchildren.  He loved to get them all riled up each time he saw them, gave them nicknames, and enjoyed Facetiming and texting with them.  In return, ten year old Luke issued him nicknames over the years, Grampy Halstead, Grandpoppy, Grandpa Randy and most recently Grandy.  They made him laugh and brought him so much joy.  He was so proud of all of them.

Randy was preceded in death by his wife Marion, parents Warren and Joyce Halstead and grandparents Frank and Lottie Halstead and Bruno and Augusta Birnschein.

Special thanks from the family go to the wonderful staff at Unity Hospice for their unconditional compassion and care that they gave Randy. Simply Cremation of Green Bay is assisting the family with arrangements.

An open house to celebrate Randy’s life will be held on November 5, 2022, at the Jacksonport Town Hall from 3-5 p.m.
