David J Gregorich Sr.

David J Gregorich Sr, 89, of New Franken, passed away suddenly early Thursday morning October 13, 2022, at his home with his wife by his side.

 

He was born November 18, 1932, in Illinois the son of the late Emil and Lillian Gregorich.

 

David was raised In Corbin Kentucky where he grew to have a fondness for the outdoors exploring the hills and hollows somewhat like the adventurous Tom Sawyer.

He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and upon his honorable discharge he made his way up north to Green Bay Wisconsin, working at Charmain Paper Mill.

 

On February 11, 1956, David married the love of his life Lona M. Gauthier.

 

He later started his own water pump and repair service known as Champion Pump Service.

 

David loved woodworking and was very skilled at making all kinds of furniture and cabinets for his beloved Cabin up North. You could always find him in his shop sawing some lumber for his next project.

 

Always at his side, Lona his wife of 64 years, spent time with him on many enjoyable trips up north and to Florida in their retirement years.

 

David is survived by his wife Lona, five children, Gail (Steve) Horkman, David (Chris) Gregorich Jr, Steve (Patti) Gregorich, Richard (Toni) Gregorich and Jennifer (Vern) Vincent. He will be truly missed by his 21 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his youngest brother Steven Gregorich of California and in-laws Todd Allendorf and Joan Gregorich.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, Lillian (Ed) Klant, Geraldene (Roger) Drossart, Eugene Gregorich, Daniel (Arlene) Gregorich, Mary Ann Allendorf.

 

Friends may call between 9:30 and 10:45 am at St. Joseph Church, Champion, on Thursday, October 20, 2022.  Funeral 11:00 am on Thursday at the church with Rev. Nonito Barra officiating.  Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Champion, with full military rites provided by the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 26 of Luxemburg.
