Obituaries

Troy L. Hicks

Troy L. Hicks, 55, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away suddenly at his home on October 23, 2022.  He was born on December 13, 1966, in Wisconsin to Robert and Shirley (Dobberke) Hicks.  Troy graduated from Gibraltar High School.  In May of 2016, he married Joanne G. Sorenson at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church.
Troy worked at Wire Tech and was a member of the Southern Door Fire Department Board.  He enjoyed hunting deer, making sausage and jerky with Bentley, NASCAR, visiting historical sites including his most recent trip to Watertown with Kaydence.  He also enjoyed trips to Florida where he had to get his gator bites, and especially spending time with family and friends.  His most notable line was “I’m fine waiting.”
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; a step-daughter, Kristy Atkinson, Carlsville; four grandchildren, Kaydence, Bentley, Alexys, and Brynley; two sisters, Cindy (Allen) Upchurch, Chicago; Tina (Joe) Korn, Baileys Harbor; one brother, Robert (Laurie) Hicks, Institute; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Hicks, Sturgeon Bay; Dianne (Jim) DeMeuse, Luxemburg; four brothers-in-law, Richard Sorenson, Palm Coast, FL; Dennis (Maureen) Sorenson, Green Bay; Gary (Gail) Sorenson, Forestville; Mark Sorenson, Sturgeon Bay; and many nieces and nephews, especially, Bob and Jason Hicks.  He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Merle Marsh; a brother, Mark Hicks; parents-in-law, Virgil and Mae Sorenson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Tanum-Forest Lutheran Church with Rev. Peter Mannoja officiating.  Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.  A prayer service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  On-line condolences may be offered at forbesfuneralhome.com
