Bernetta F. Lebrick

One of God’s very best has been carried away by angels. Bernetta F. Lebrick (who shall be referred to as Bert), age 87, of Manitowoc passed away on Monday December 5, 2022 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, while friends and family surrounded her with love, gratitude and friendly banter.

Bert was born July 29, 1935 in Mount Vernon, Kansas, daughter of the late Bernard and Josephine (Konecny) Keiter.  She was a graduate of Garden Plain High School.  On July 21, 1956 she was united in marriage to Garland Lebrick in Mount Vernon, KS.  He preceded her in death on May 11, 1988.

Bert was preceded in death by her parents Bernard & Josephine Keiter, her loving husband Garland, beautiful daughter Lenore (Lebrick) Beyer, beloved sisters Julie and Sally, brothers Ed, Vince, Gib and Clem.

Bert was a person of deep faith and helped so many people by being supportive, encouraging and very forgiving, with an open mind and inner strength that was unmatched. She had a great sense of humor (she had to with us as her kids) and her home was a place where everyone was welcome. Always giving of herself, very unselfish and just an extremely beautiful person with the most selfless soul.

Survivors include her kids Gale Lebrick, Leann (Lebrick) Doell, loving family friend Barb Altergott who was like a daughter to Bert, her wonderful sisters who made countless trips from Kansas when Bert could no longer travel, Thelma Traffas and Marge Blubaugh, granddaughter Samantha (Beyer) Varney, Samantha’s husband Chris Varney and his kids, grandsons Lee Beyer, Tyler Doell (wife Mercedes), and Ben Lebrick, great grandson Weston (Lee Beyer’s little guy), sons-in-law Dave Beyer and Ken Doell, along with a large extended family and so very many friends. Lastly but very important, Gale’s sweet old pup Kodi, who was Bert’s faithful walking companion and furry friend.

Among those special friends are the Bay Settlement Sisters, the wonderful people with CEW group, parish outreach friends and all of the wonderful people who visited and spent time with Bert for so many years. She really enjoyed her time with all of you, too, and spoke of you often.

It is with much gratitude that we thank the kind and caring City of Manitowoc paramedics for their many rescues over the past few years, and up until recently, when God had other plans for Mom’s return to a different kind of home. The outstanding staff at Froedert Holy Family Hospital and the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice angels.

Everyone has been a gift to Mom as they treated her with such dignity, and allowed her to pass on with grace. A very special thank you to our one in a million family friend, aforementioned Barb, who never left Mom’s side and has been like another daughter to Bert. We thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Rd, Newton from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Beaudry with burial of her remains to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers at a later date.
