Obituaries

Gerald Anthony Mancheski

Gerald Anthony Mancheski, 91, of Sturgeon Bay passed away at his home on March 1, 2023.  He was born May 13, 1931, in Pulaski to Bernard and Lucille (Liss) Mancheski.  On June 25, 1955, he married Arlene Olive Fritsch in Greenleaf.

Gerald graduated from Catholic Central High School in Green Bay.  He worked as  a steamfitter and was a proud member of Local Union 298/400.  For many years, he also owned and operated a cherry/apple orchard and processing plant, and delivered fruit all over Wisconsin. Gerry was a long time and active member at Corpus Christi Church in Sturgeon Bay and was an associate of the Bay Settlement Sisters.

Gerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting wood and eating good food.  Gerald was an avid Packer fan, a reading buddy, and a very social person who enjoyed telling stories and visiting others.  He loved time spent at his pond where he enjoyed his cigars and watching birds.

Gerald and Arlene were able to take several cruises during their retirement.  Known as “Papa”, he especially treasured the time he had with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

Survivors include his wife Arlene; six children, Jerry (Diane) Mancheski, Sturgeon Bay; Mary (Joe) Schmidt, Sturgeon Bay;  Ann  Mancheski, Sturgeon Bay; Nancy (Terry) DeBauche, Little Suamico; Barb (Cliff) Neinas, Brussels; Paul (Justine) Mancheski, Forestville;  14 Grandchildren, Amanda (Saty); Aaron (Chelsea) ,Adam (Anna), Chris (Wendy), Melissa (Randy), Allison (Carson), Andrea (Kevin), Olivia; Cassie (Eric),  Angela (Brad), Calvin (Amber) , Beau(Courtney), Janae and Eli; 18 great-grandchildren;  a brother Fred (Toni) Mancheski, New Orleans; a sister Alice Hershman, Green Bay; a sister-in-law Carolyn Mancheski, Green Bay.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, great-grandchild Wyatt Gross, brother Richard and sister “Petey” (Bob) Wilson; and brother-in-law Richard Hershman.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, March 6, 2023, at Corpus Christi Church in Sturgeon Bay.  Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service.  Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
