Lawrence "Larry" Joseph Sacotte Sr.

Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Sacotte Sr, Age 85, Dyckesville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 28, 2023, with his family by his side after a long hard battle with Dementia.

 

Larry was born March 12, 1938, to the late Frank J. and Clara E. (DeCremer) Sacotte in Red River Township, Kewaunee County, WI. He is affectionately known as Larry, Dad, Pops and Grandpa. He married Bettie Jane DeGrave on June 23, 1959, at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville, WI. Lawrence was a four-year Veteran of the United States Navy, stationed in Davisville, Rhode Island. He served on the U.S.S. Leyte, C.V.S. 32, and the U.S.S. ARD – 16. Lawrence worked as a Carpenter for forty years, North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, Local 1146.

 

When Larry retired, he started a hobby Christmas Tree farm. Larry also had a love for hunting and fishing. Larry and his wife, Bettie, enjoyed eight Elk and Mule Deer hunting trips to Colorado, backpacking up the mountains. He loved to play cards and trying to steal a trick when he could. For many years Larry and Bettie, with family and friends, would take snowmobile trips all throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Larry and Bettie were the perfect example of love and devotion, being married nearly 64 years, doing everything together, and enjoying life to its fullest.

He is the proud Father of three children, Lawrence Sacotte Jr. (Lisa) of Dyckesville, WI; Daniel Sacotte (Cheryl) of Green Bay, WI; Debbie Sacotte-Bader of Luxemburg, WI; Larry was blessed with nine grandchildren, Nicholas Sacotte (Pamela) of Champion, WI, Ashley Sacotte (Jenn) of Appleton, WI, Cassie (Sacotte) Fleming (Daniel) of Milwaukee, WI, Courtney Sacotte (Mace) of Green Bay, WI, Kyle Sacotte (Kelsey) of Bellevue, WI, Stephanie Etterer of Dyckesville, WI, Aaron Etterer (Katelyn) of Dubuque, IA, Abigail Bader (Special Friend Ryan) of Luxemburg, WI, Michael Bader (Special Friend Tori) of Luxemburg, WI; five great grandchildren, Skylar Mace (Courtney), Kaiden Mace (Courtney), Lauren Sacotte (Nicholas and Pamela), Calvin Sacotte (Nicholas and Pamela), Ellison Sacotte (Kyle and Kelsey); nieces and nephews, Nancy (Sacotte) Bouche (Kenneth), Anita (Sacotte) Muller (Mark), Peggy (Sacotte) Johnson (Larry), Marie (Sacotte) Rueckle (Daniel), Paul Sacotte (Ann).

 

Larry was preceded in death by, one infant sister; one brother, Francis (Joan) Sacotte; one stepbrother, Alvin (Dora) DeCremer.

 

Friends may call 4:00 to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg.  Closing parish vigil 6:30 pm on Wednesday.  Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville.  Funeral 11:00 am on Thursday with Rev. Rommel Da Coco officiating.  Burial in St. Louis Cemetery, Dyckesville, will full military honors at graveside provided by the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 of Luxemburg.   www.mcmahonfh.com 

 

The family wishes to extend a note of thanks to Nancy Bouche for her love, care, and support to her Godfather, Wendy at Journeys Forward, for her care and compassion during his visits, Lisa at ADRC, for your guidance during our journey, Compassus Hospice for support and guidance in the final days, and especially Debbie and Abby Bader, for being at Larry’s side, caring for his every need and ensuring his comfort until his final moment.
