Lila M. Olson

Lila M. Olson, 88, of Forestville, passed away on May 23, 2023.  She was born Nov. 23, 1934, in the Town of Ahnapee to Ernst and Frieda (Serrahn) Maedke.   On Sept. 7, 1957, she married Robert M. Olson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Algoma.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2021.

 

After graduating from high school, Lila moved to Milwaukee and worked for Schlitz Brewery for a couple of years.  After marrying Bob, she took a position with Algoma Hardwoods where she worked for 47 years.

 

Lila’s main passion in life was her faith and membership at Tanum Forest Lutheran Church where she enjoyed attending Bible studies, singing in the choir, making coffee and treats for fellowship time, quilting, making lefse, participating in Ladies Aid and serving as church treasurer for 40 years.  She and Bob also sponsored 3 students through Luther Seminary.

 

Lila and Bob were able to enjoy numerous bus and mystery trips over the years.  Their favorite destination was always Frankenmuth, Michigan.

 

Survivors include in-laws, Carol Krueger, John “Jack” and Dianne Olson, Marion and David Schultz, and Judy Olson; nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Orland Maedke, Leroy Maedke, Edith (Ben) Chemel, Muriel (Frederick) Walther, and Marjorie Maedke; in-laws: Donald Olson, Gerald (Elaine) Olson, Roy (Lee) Olson, Alan Olson, and Edward Krueger.

 

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 26, 2023, at Tanum Forest Lutheran Church with burial at Forest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 am.  Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tanum Forest Lutheran Church.
