 Jane Marie (Fish) Kasten

Jane Marie Kasten, 65, of the Town of Jacksonport, fell asleep in the loving arms of her family and awoke in the arms of the Lord, late Saturday night, June 3, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

She was born January 26, 1958 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of Floyd Joseph Fish and Ethel Elizabeth (Waters) Fish. Jane grew up attending St. Joseph Parish and Parochial School in Sturgeon Bay where she received the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and was confirmed. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School with the class of 1977.

Jane was united in marriage to Dale Frederick Kasten on June 21, 1997, outside the home of Dale's sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Bob Krueger, in Forestville.

She had a heart of gold and devoted her life to caring for others. Jane was initially employed as a caregiver at the Dorchester Nursing Home (now Sturgeon Bay Health Services) in the 1990s. She went to work in housekeeping for Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay before continuing in caregiving at Whispering Heights (now Cherry Cove Assisted Living), both in Sturgeon Bay. Jane most recently cared for residents at Pine Crest Village Assisted Living Sturgeon Bay. Even after she was done caregiving, she continued making home visits.

Jane's faith provided a foundation throughout her life - growing at St. Joseph, then attending Family Worship Center in Sturgeon Bay, and presently Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church where her husband, Dale had also been a member. She loved taking pictures; she was always behind the camera. Jane's family meant the world to her, and she had a great love for her friends as well. She greeted you with a burst of energy, quickly followed with a question about how you and your family were doing. That was Jane. She genuinely cared.

Jane's love will love on in the hearts of her family whom she will be deeply missed by: her husband, Dale, with whom she was blessed to share nearly 26 years of marriage with; daughter, Kelly (John) Marquardt of Sturgeon Bay; stepdaughter, April Kasten of La Crosse; grandchildren, Sean (Kimberly) Marquardt, Austin Marquardt, Nickolas Marquardt, and Christian Marquardt; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Sophia Marquardt; siblings, Debbie (Terry) Blasier, Sandra Fish, both of Sturgeon Bay, Jean (Sonny) Malvitz of the Town of Nasewaupee, Carol Fish of Sturgeon Bay, Jim (Brenda Jeanquart) Fish of the Town of Sevastopol, and Susie (Tom) Soukup of the Town of Nasewaupee, and Teresa (Brad) La Pant of Carlsville; siblings-in-law, Larry Kasten of the Town of Sevastopol, Karen Kasten of Sturgeon Bay, Vickie (Bob) Krueger of Palm City, FL, Jeanne Kasten of Manitowoc, Wayne (Tammy) Kasten of Egg Harbor, and Kevin (Kim) Kasten of Sturgeon Bay; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Chris "Finch" Longley; and friends.

Jane's life will be honored with a funeral service held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew R. Knapp, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest in Bayside Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol, beside her son, Finch.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with a time to share stories and memories at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Memorials may be given in Jane's name for DOOR CANcer, Inc. (P.O. Box 423, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235).

"Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors who cared for Jane, especially Dr. Richard Hogan whom she especially appreciated; and also to all of her (our) friends for all of your prayers and support."
