Dorothy Lea Heim

Dorothy Lea Heim, 91, Luxemburg, peacefully passed away Monday morning, October 16, 2023.

She was born April 24, 1932, to the late Elmer C. & Dorothy T. (Kohlbeck) Barbiaux.

She married Lawrence H. Heim on June 2, 1962. He preceded her in death April 9, 1973.  Dorothy was also preceded in death by one of their daughters, Jenifer Lea Heim, May 5, 1997.

Faith and God were very evident and brought Dorothy strength each day of her life.  She showed this as a loyal member of St. Mary Parish, Christian Mothers Society and daily praying the rosary.

Dorothy’s life was filled with many employment opportunities and community services over the years which included:  Meal sites Manager (Casco/Dyckesville), Watkins Sales, coordinated bus tours to Fireside/Amish/etc., World Book Sales, Luxemburg-Casco NWTI (currently NWTC) Coordinator – which also started the Luxemburg Community Band.  She was an open exhibits coordinator for Kewaunee County Fair and worked in the payroll department at Charmin (currently Procter & Gamble).

She volunteered most of her adult life as she started the St. Mary Mission Society (making/selling quilts and rugs), started the Luxemburg summer park program and held many charitable carnivals/haunted houses as fundraisers.  She taught CCD and began a refunding program at St. Mary Parish in Luxemburg.

Her hobbies included watching Lawence Welk, Carol Brunette Shows, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy. She was a true Packer Fan.  She truly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren playing all kinds of card games especially Kings in the Corner, Royal Rummy, Scrabble, Burger Time, and puzzles.  Family traditions included her reading to the children “The Night Before Christmas”, going down on one knee during advent prayers where the youngest grand/great grandchild would place baby Jesus in the manger to signify the start of Christmas.

She will be missed by her children: Jeff (Betty) Heim, Jackie (Jerry) Frisque, Jim (Sue) Heim;  grandchildren: Nathan (Marissa) Heim, Samantha Heim and special friend Lewis, Leah Bloomer and special friend Blake, Ronni (Jesse) Ledvina, Jehna Heim and special friend Jake, and Tahlor Heim;  great grandchildren: Jackson and Merrick Heim, Aaylah and Rowen Bloomer, Atlas and Josie Ledvina as well as her sisters and brother-in-law Marilyn (Tom) Melchior, Bonnie Seiler and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, daughter Jenifer, brothers and sisters-in-law Charlie, Don (Rita), Anthony, Maurice, Jonas (Lucille) Barbiaux and one brother-in-law Jerry Seiler along with other special family members on the Heim side and our dear Father Frank Melchior.

Friends may call 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg.  Closing parish prayer service at 3:00 pm with Deacon Bob Miller.  Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:45 am on Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg.  Funeral 11:00 am on Monday, at the church, with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating.  Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.   www.mcmahonfh.com
