LaVerne Klimek

     LaVerne Klimek, 102 years old of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on March 12, 2024.

     She was born in Sturgeon Bay on January 27, 1922, to the late Urbain and Annie Allie. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Grade School and Sturgeon Bay High School class of 1940. She married Frank “Lefty” Klimek on June 26, 1945, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

     During World War II she worked at Leathem Smith shipyard. She also worked for Knaapen’s Bakery and the A&P store. She worked at the Peterson Memorial Pool for 24 years when she retired in 1988. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers, worked all the funeral dinners, and helped with the mailings at church.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank in 1995; son, Bruno; her parents; four brothers, Clayton “Klink”, Edwin “Ed”, Joseph “Joe”, Albert “Buddy”; and two sisters, Mary Ann Corcoran, Bernice Cinabro.

     She is survived by her son, William of Sturgeon Bay; daughter, Judy of Sturgeon Bay; daughter, Patsy (Charles) Reed of Woodbury, MN; three grandchildren, Rebecca (Alonzo Robinson) [and their children, Kyla and Lena], Joseph, and Mary Reed.

     The family would like to thank Unity Hospice nurses Kelsey, Angie and Wendy (for the exceptional care she gave the last five years), for their wonderful care of LaVerne.

     Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Huehns Funeral Home with Fr. Matthew Rappl officiating. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

     Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
