Jack Dennis Reed, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, died unexpectedly of an accident on May 9, 2024. He was born August 27,1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jack Clarence Reed and Alvina (nee Blatz) Reed. He grew up on the streets of Chicago with his five siblings and in Alabama where his father grew up. He met his future wife, Frances J. Kory, at Elmhurst College. They were married March 24, 1955, and shared over 69 years of marriage. Jack and Fran were blessed with seven children: John (1956), Robin (1957), Karyn (1958), Stephen (1959), Lisa (1963), Laurie (1964), and Julie (1966). Jack symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God by baptism as an ordained minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses on September 11,1977. He shared his unfaltering faith in Jehovah’s promises of the resurrection and the future earthly paradise. As a life-long learner, he taught himself Russian and traveled there to share his faith. Jack was truly a “Jack of many trades”, always adaptable with a diverse range of abilities. His work ethic, which included being prompt, was unmatchable, providing for his family and working up to the last days of his life. His last job was the one he loved the most, cleaning for Door County Eye Associates for over forty years. To those who had the privilege of knowing Jack, there is no singular description to catch his essence. You never knew where a conversation with Jack would take you, but you knew it would be good, with an unusual twist or insight, and more than likely with a good laugh! Jack was a constant adventure, unfolding constantly in new directions! Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Fran, and children; John (Carol) Reed, Robin (Michael) Reed, Karyn Reed, Stephen (Valerie) Reed, Lisa (William) Doty, Laurie (Jeff) Hucek; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; and daughter, Julie Hanks. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 918 Circle Ridge Pl, Sturgeon Bay. A memorial service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. at the Kingdom Hall. The memorial service can be joined virtually on Zoom: Zoom Meeting: 809 572 076; Passcode: 1982. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Jack’s memory to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc. or by making an online donation at JW.org.
