Dennis Laurent

Dennis Laurent, 78, passed away on February 12, 2025, at Autumn’s Journey Assisted Living in Algoma. He was born on July 13, 1946, to Walter and Lucy (LeGreve) Laurent. Dennis grew up in Rio Creek. As part of a large family, they always kept watch over him, lovingly nicknaming him “Sam”. Dennis lived independently in Casco for over 20 years and was well-known by the locals. He liked going for walks and enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football. He was a kind soul with a quiet demeanor. Dennis is survived by two sisters, LaVerne Capelle and Gloria Thomason both of Green Bay, and brother-in-law, Joe Wiese of Algoma. Dennis is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family members. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Jr. (Rosie) Laurent, Gabe (Diane) Laurent, and Tony (Mary Jo) Laurent; sisters, Lucille Laurent, Carol (Joe) Strnad, and Jeanne Wiese; brother-in-law, Donald Capelle; nieces, Lizabeth Capelle, Linda Strnad, Julie Beckers, and Jennifer Strnad; and nephews Duane Capelle and Todd Laurent. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am – 11:45 am at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lincoln on Saturday, February 15, 2025; followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm with Father Daniel Schuster officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. A heartfelt “Thank You” to Chad and Jennie Pavlat and the staff at Autumn’s Journey for the loving care provided to Dennis.
