Mary Elizabeth Riha

Mary Elizabeth Riha, 87, of Egg Harbor, WI, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025 at Serenity Springs at Scandia Village in Sister Bay, WI. She was born June 13, 1937 and grew up in Racine, WI, the daughter of Richard and Blanche (O'Neil) Baumgardt, graduating from high school at Racine St. Catherine's. On December 16, 1963, she married Paul Riha. Mary and Paul lived and raised a family in Fond du Lac, WI before moving to Door County in 2000. They lived at their home on Hillside Road outside of Egg Harbor for 25 years. Through the years, Mary wore many hats as a dedicated wife and mother, avid gardener and naturalist, CCD Coordinator at St. Patrick's, owned a Bresler's Ice Cream Shop, worked in a stained-glass studio and spent many years in retail sales. She enjoyed hard work and good company and was a friend to many. Mary will be dearly missed by her husband, Paul; her children, Stacie (John) Birschbach, of Plymouth, WI, Patrick (Jeanne) Riha, of Edina, MN, and Eric (Jill) Riha, of New York, NY; grandchildren, Lilly and Elizabeth; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Baumgardt, of Racine, WI, Pat Baumgardt, of Muncie, IN, and Mary Baumgardt, of Racine, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Dennis, Ray, and George. Mary's life will be honored with a memorial service held at Stella Maris - Egg Harbor site in the spring of 2025. Memorials may be given in her name for St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/) or the World Wildlife Fund (www.worldwildlife.org).
