Laura Ellen Strege
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9) Laura Ellen Strege was taken to her heavenly home on April 2, 2025, at the age of 87 years. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Dorothy Polster. Laura was a loving wife to Arthur “Art” Strege. They celebrated 67 years of marriage this past February. What a blessing! Laura was a devoted mother to her children, Janet Stiglich (Tony), Jean Herrmann (preceded Laura in death), Joyce Gohr (Jeff), and Ronald Strege (Kim). She was a loving, generous grandmother to Jamie Klappa (Paul), Katie Brasure (Greg), Becky Lindenberg (Erik) (Becky preceded Laura in death), Joe Herrmann (Tonya), Jacob Stiglich (Karissa), Laura Troutman (Marcus), Shelley Ervin (Brad), Jonathan Szymanski (Jason), Alexander Strege, and Jeremy Herrmann (Melissa). Laura loved all her great grandchildren! Adam, Ryan, Jenna and Owen Klappa, Joseph and Jackson Lindenberg; Donovan and Savannah Troutman, Gavin and Brooklynn Stiglich, Callahan and Finley Ervin, Preston and Asher Herrmann, Blake and Ivan Brasure, Hannah and Michael Herrmann. Laura was the third oldest of nine children. Throughout her life, she shared many stories of her childhood with her siblings! The laughter and memories shared whenever they were together warmed everyone’s heart, who had the privilege to be on the sideline and listen! Sylvia Reinhardt, Alma Bahr, Tom Polster, Steve Polster (Caroline), Mark Polster (Cheryl). Siblings who have preceded Laura in death include Donald Polster, Joanne Swenson, and Hertha Polster. Further survived by many nieces and nephews. After the birth of her children, Laura went back to school for her Accounting Degree. Her family proudly watched her graduate from Waukesha County Technical College as “Outstanding Student” with a 4.0 GPA! While she held many jobs throughout her married life to help support her family, after her college graduation she worked for DataCom and ultimately, started, and co-owned, Prime Graphics in New Berlin, Wisconsin! “I rejoiced with those who said to me, let us go to the house of the LORD.” (Psalm 122:1) Laura loved serving in the Church! Throughout her life she was a dedicated church member; using her talents to beautify and give glory to her Savior through service. Laura’s roles included, Alter Committee, Ladies Aid, Bible Study participant, beautifying the church with flowers, cleaning, decorating, counting committee, making food or dessert (and serving) whenever the need the arose, and the list goes on. The joy on her face when she said, “I’m heading over to church”! Well done good and faithful servant. Laura is remembered not only for her fierce love for family, but also her passion for sports! She loved bowling and playing golf until physically she was not able to any longer. We all know Laura was a fan of the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, Golf tournaments, basketball games (grade school and high school too), as well as football games at any level! At her assisted living facility, Dickson Hollow in Menomonee Falls, she was remembered as being delighted when invited to go to a Brewer game and they could always count on Laura to be outfitted on game day! Laura also enjoyed Fine Arts, music and reading. Peninsula Players, Broadway shows, high school and college concerts always put a smile on her face! And of course, our home was filled with Johnny Cash music! Laura’s victory service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Visitation at 10:00 with service to follow at 11:00 at Christ Ev Lutheran Church, 9986 WI-57, Bailey’s Harbor, WI 54202. Private burial on Friday In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ Lutheran Church appreciated. Forbes Funeral Home is serving the family.
