Carole Jeanette Sunstrom

Carole Jeanette Sunstrom, beloved wife of the late Russell Sunstrom of Sister Bay, passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, at the age of 94. It was a fitting day for a woman whose life was defined by parenting and deep devotion to those she held near. Born on December 22, 1930, in Ephraim to the late Albin and Hazel Ohman, Carole was a woman of strength and enduring faith. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ephraim, which remained close to her heart throughout her life. Her faith was a quiet but steady presence in everything she did. Throughout her life she found joy spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed her classes at the YMCA, sewing and knitting, as well as continually trying new recipes. When Carole and Russ moved to Scandia Village more relationships were made as she became close with many residents throughout the last years. Carole approached life best when she felt needed. She was an amazing baby-sitter of her grandchildren. Having them stay over for weekends and coddling them with treats and special activities. She had endless energy and was able to keep up with her grandkids 70 years younger. Her last months were especially blessed. In her final chapter, her truest self-shined through - peaceful, patient, and deeply loving. She offered her family moments of remarkable clarity, grace, and connection, leaving them with memories that will forever be cherished as a beautiful and healing sendoff. Carole will be missed by her sons, Dennis (Marla) Sunstrom, Dale (Cindy) Sunstrom; daughter, Kari (Mark) Pudlo; seven grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren; as well as friends and family. She was preceded in death by siblings, Helen Mickelson, Lucille Logerquist and Emily Franklin. She was also preceded in death by her grandson-in-law, Josh (Kelly) Edgerton, A special thanks to Serenity Springs and Unity Hospice for the love and care they gave her. A memorial service will be held for Carole on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 7973 WI-57, Baileys Harbor, with Rev. Gary Scharrig officiating. Visitation will be held at church on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Huehns Funeral Home is assisting the Sunstrom family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Carole may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
