Allen L. Moore
Allen L. Moore, 94, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Sept. 11, 2025. Allen (Al) was born on December 16,1930, to Allen J. Moore, Sr. & Lillian (Tease) Moore in the Town of Gardner, Door County, WI. Allen attended Tornado Elementary School, St. Norbert Youth School and was a 1948 graduate of Brussels High School. After high school, Al worked for his father’s beer distributing business, Sturgeon Bay shipyards proudly working on Naval ships, Algoma Plywood and held a long career in maintenance and manufacturing in Green Bay. Al came from a family of baseball players who were passionate about the game. He and his two brothers played for many years in the Door County Baseball League. Al was very proud to enjoy 16 years with the Little Sturgeon and Kolberg Braves organizations. He shared with his “Gang” many stories of his early years hunting, bowling, playing baseball, poker games and observing his brother Pat “getting into mischief”. Shortly after high school, Al met the love of his life and “biggest baseball fan” Bernadette Jeanquart. Allen and Bernadette were married in 1952 at St. Mary’s of the Snows Catholic Church in Namur, WI (currently the Belgian Heritage Center). Together they lived and raised a faith-filled family of six children in Namur, WI. Many of those years were spent working with Al’s in-laws on the family farm. After retirement, Al and Bernadette remained in Namur to enjoy their homestead and the incredibly manicured property, landscaping and flower beds they treasured. Rest assured, with a large family evolving, everyone enjoyed the fragrance of the roses and the harvest of the fruit and vegetable garden. When Al was not working in his yard, he enjoyed cutting wood to stoke his woodstove and fireplace and listening to Country music. He also enjoyed spending time on his 19 Acre property near his childhood home where he relished in nature and deer hunted for many years. Al and Bernadette were very fortunate to have traveled much of the United States including Alaska and internationally through parts of Canada and Europe. In more recent years, Allen traveled his “dream come true trips” to Hawaii and Ireland with his daughter Michelle (Dan) and family. Over the years, he shared his travel experiences with great passion and energy among family and friends. Al was a long-time member of the Peninsula Belgian American Club, St. Mary’s of the Snows and St Francis Catholic Church in Brussels WI, and The Sturgeon Bay YMCA. Al was also a proud sponsor and Volunteer of the Namur Belgian Heritage Foundation (Belgian Heritage Center).
