Joan M. Behnke

Joan M. Behnke, age 88, of Luxemburg, died peacefully Monday morning, November 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was born October 16, 1937, in Luxemburg to the late Edward A. and Katherine A. (Colle) Ouradnik. On September 13, 1958, Joan married Harold W. Behnke at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2000.

She was employed with the Luxemburg-Casco High School as a cook and kitchen aide for 35 plus years. Her enjoyments included bowling, cooking, baking, reading, and counted cross stitch.

Survivors include three sons, Ed (Sue) Behnke, Tom (Kathy) Behnke, Joe Behnke; one son-in-law, Paul Junio; eight grandchildren, Kristy (Kyle) Miller, Stephanie Behnke, Mary Brunick (Danny Schroeder), Nick (Anna) Behnke, Matthew Behnke (Brianna Laurent), David Junio, Charlie Behnke, Jon Behnke; eleven great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Janet Ouradnik; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one daughter and one son-in-law, Carol Junio (Dale Diedrich); one grandson, Alan Diedrich; one brother Charlie Ouradnik; one sister, Audrey (Robert) Delebreau; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alan (Jenny) Behnke, Evelyn (Leonard) Stroschoen; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Ida Behnke.

Friends may call 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg. A closing parish prayer service at 5:00 pm led by Deacon Bob Miller. Visitation will continue between 9:30 am – 10:45 am on Monday, November 24, 2025, at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral will be at 11:00 am at church with the Very Rev. Daniel J. Schuster officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg. McMahon Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences can be shared at McMahonFH.com.
