Barbara Fox

Barbara Beatrice Fox, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, in Batavia, Illinois. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend.

She was born on August 20, 1935, in Chicago IL to her parents Henry and Beatrice (nee. Feller) Comer. Barbara was united in marriage to Albert J. Fox on June 30, 1956. She went to high school at Saint Francis Catholic High School in Joliet. She then pursued both a bachelor’s degree and an MA in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University.

Barbara dedicated her professional life as a Reading Specialist at Mooseheart Child City & School. Teaching was more than a profession to her - it was a calling, and she remained proud of her work long after retirement. After retiring from teaching, Barbara and Al lived life to the fullest, sharing a love for travel and adventure. They divided their time between North Aurora, Illinois and their cherished cottage in Ephraim, Wisconsin.

Barbara was known for her adventurous spirit, but her heart was happiest when surrounded by her family. An avid Bridge player and golfer, Barbara also dedicated her time as a volunteer at the Ephraim Historical Society, the Anderson Store Museum and The Pioneer Schoolhouse Museum.

A woman of strong Catholic faith throughout her life, Barb and Al were one of the founding members of Blessed Sacrament Parish in North Aurora. Her spiritual devotion was evident not only in worship but also in how she lived—with grace, humility, kindness—and always with others at heart.

Married for almost 70 years, Barb and her husband, Albert (Al) were true partners—teammates in life, supporting one another through family, work, and countless memories. Together they raised six children: Albert (Eileen), Peggy (Keith), Mary, Kathleen (Guy), James (Joanne), and Thomas. Though they experienced the sorrow of losing their eldest child Albert in 2016, Barbara’s strength and love continued to anchor the family with quiet strength. Barbara found immense joy in being a grandmother to fifteen grandchildren: Albert (Blake)., Ryan, Jack (Madeline), Katie, Kaitlynn, Michael, Joseph, Sarah, Jenny, Guy Jr., Ashley (Greg), Maxwell, Caroline, Mikael, and Theo and a great grandmother to Albert, Rose, and Brooks.

Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, each one cherished deeply.

Barbara was preceded in death by her son Albert Fox, her daughter, Beatrice Mary and her siblings Jerry (Joyce) Comer, Michael (Louise) Comer, Ann (Marcel) Pacatte, and Peter (Kathy) Comer.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. at Moss Family Funeral Home; 209 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia IL 60510. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church; 801 Oak St, North Aurora IL 60542.
