Gene W. Dopke passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Gene was born on May 19, 1945 to Grace (Bothe) and Wallace Dopke in Algoma WI. He graduated from Algoma High School and then entered the Air Force and served 4 years.
Upon his return he began his career at Kewaunnee Engineering and continued at Viking Electric prior to retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Jill (Zirk) Dopke whom he married on October 2, 1982, and his two children by his former wife (Nancy) and grandchildren, daughter Candee Wawrzynkiewicz (TJ) and their daughter Haylee, son Troy Dopke, and his daughter Morgan. Gene was also survived by his sister Carole Hannaman, his mother-in-law Betty Jean Zirk, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kay.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 16th at Schinderle Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algoma WI. Visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM with Jodi Parins officiating. Private family burial will follow.
