George A. Soberski of Sturgeon Bay, originally from Des Plaines, IL, passed away April 11, 2026 in Schaumburg, IL at the age of 96.
He was born February 22, 1930 in Chicago, the son of the late Florian and Jeanette (Kazmarski) Soberski. He graduated from Shurz High School in Chicago. George honorably served the United States in the Air Force during the Korean War.
George was a brilliant man. For 33 years, he worked as an engineer for the Eaton Corporation where he wrote many patents for his inventions. George enjoyed trap shooting and golfing with his sons and he was an accomplished painter, creating beautiful works of art. He loved to travel, loved the Brewers and Packers, loved water, and loved Door County life.
He will be fondly remembered as the loving father of Deb (Dale) Wiegand, Brian Soberski, Susan Soberski, Steve Soberski, Richard (Kristi) Soberski, and the late Patty (Mike) Poling, and Adam Soberski. He was also a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; uncle; and cousin of many.
George's family held a private funeral service at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Bayside Cemetery in the Town of Sevastopol with Deacon Mark Bortle officiating. Military honors will be performed by Amvets Post 51.
